Michelle and Chris, who reside in downstate Michigan, decided they wanted a wedding on the beach in Traverse City. Indeed, they wanted to take advantage of all the wonderful summer attractions that Northwest Michigan has to offer. In planning this type destination wedding, the coupleís guests would be able to experience a mini vacation as well as sharing in their special day. And, most importantly, the bride and groom desired the day to be as stress free as possible for themselves. After careful consideration, they chose the Holiday Inn West Bay. Michelle and Chris were able to hold all of the dayís events, from getting ready, to the ceremony and the celebration afterwards at this one location.
While the bride and her ladies prepared for the wedding in their rooms, friends help put the finishing touches on the ceremony site. White tulle draped the railing leading down to the white flower garland lined aisle. A white tulle and flower covered archway, sitting in the sand at the waters edge, served as the coupleís altar.
Beach weddings are a very popular alternative to more traditional church weddings. But donít assume that a beach ceremony is always a casual affair. Couples, such as Chris and Michelle, use their creative personalities to combine the best of both.
Michelle made a beautiful bride, wearing a soft and flowing chiffon gown. Forgoing the more traditional veil, delicate white flower blossoms were placed in her hair and white bridal flip flops served as the perfect footwear. She carried a bouquet of local flowers that she and her friends arranged themselves. It was the perfect combination for an eloquent but causal affair.
After their personalized ceremony, guests moved to the reception area where they enjoyed cocktails and hors dí oeuvres. Our couple and their wedding party took this opportunity for photos on the beach. The newly weds seeing their ministerís custom motorcycle decided to hop on for a short ride with a few fun photos.
The couple rejoined their guests in the Innís banquet room for their first dance. To their surprise, the brideís brother performed a special song for the bridal dance. After dinner was served, Michelle and Chris made their way to their cake table. Instead of the traditional wedding cake, they chose an ice cream bar cake that was more appropriate for a warm summer day treat. The day drew to a close with another spectacular sunset across Grand Traverse Bay.
